Who Should You Ask to be in Your Hype Squad?

When I tell small business owners to gather up their folks to hype up up their business, they look at me with puzzled face.

“Shannon, where should I start?”

It’s A LOT easier than you think!

Let’s build your hype squad! This is where small business owners look at me scared not knowing where to start. Or are afraid to ask, too.

Who’ve you worked with in the past? It could be past clients, current clients, former co-workers, and managers.

Clients are the best place to start. They’ve hired and paid you for your work. Asking them to spread the word is a logical step.

Past clients whom you have good relationships with are another way to go. They more than likely have sent your referrals and business.

If you’re branching out on your own and don’t have clients and you’re in good standing with your employer, ask them for support if it’s appropriate.

You spend a lot of time with your co-workers, 8 hours or more a day, they probably know you better than some of your family members. They want you to success and see you in actions. If it’s not a conflict, they can help spread the word too!

Action item: Grab a piece of paper and let’s write down 10-20 past clients, clients, co-workers and managers you feel could give your business a little buzz and more social media reach.
