The beauty of your website and social media marketing is this is something that you can curate on your own terms. Before social media, business owners had to earn media mentions or buy them.
With digital marketing and social media, you’re given tools and features to meet up with your customers in revolutionary ways and we’re still in the Wild Wild West when it comes to social media marketing.
BUT, I’ll warn you, social media is not a magic bullet and can often lead to burn out if you’re ONLY putting your marketing eggs in the social media basket. Your company doesn’t own your social media platforms and they can be taken down any time without any notice.
I’ve seen accounts shut down for no reason SO I like to start with a website first, social media second approach, then to your marketing.
With me saying that, the free tools social media offers are a great way to practice your craft, show parts of your life you want to show, and get comfortable with building relatability, trust, and authority.
Here are 3 ways to build personality on social media:
Use the Free Video Features
Want to be known for what you do quickly? Step your toe into video features on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, & TikTok. These free tools give your business a chance to show your expertise and reliability to your customers by serving your audience.
Video is way easier to do than it was 20 years ago with the introduction of the smartphone. The other important part about video is that consumers trust amature videos over highly produced videos giving that saying “done is better than perfect” saying some legs to stand out. The only way you’re going to get comfortable is to just “do the thing.”
Where to Start: You do not need to start dancing on TikTok in order to start, unless you want to! It’s as easy as going live on social media platforms OR getting comfortable with the Stories/Shorts features on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Show Photos of Yourself
Along with video, showing photos of you on your website and social media gives you credibility.
For my own website, I’ve gained new customers because my photo is the first thing you see on my website. I don’t hide behind brand names and I also show who my team is along with bios, as well.
How many times have you dropped onto a website and wanted to know if this was a legitimate business or not?
So… where to start? Make sure you are front and center on your website. Share photos on your social media platforms as well.
Show Your Quirky Side
Along with video and photos, talking and writing can be a great way to show your personality.
Video is the best option like showing behind the scenes of your business but writing and sharing knowledge on your business for your website, then repurposing for social media, will kill two birds with one stone.
Your writing or talking style is a great way to pull in (or pull away that audience).
It’s also a great way to keep your business top of mind, too!
