The importance of personal branding and social media engagement

Are you looking to stop the continuous scrolling and stay top of mind to increase engagement? When you are consistent in your branding, it is guaranteed that you will stick out amongst the crowd. Here’s why...

To stop the scroll on social platforms, you need to focus on consistency for your brand. If you are thinking, “I’m just some random person on social media. Why do I need a personal brand?”

Branding is what distinguishes you from your competitors and forms a lasting impression in the mind of your audience and customers. This helps you become relatable to your audience, increase the exposure on your page, and attract more customers for the brand. You can be a brand, hence personal branding.

Here are X ways to stay on brand and top of mind when you’re working on your social media marketing.

Color Coding
Pick and develop a consistent color scheme and mood board. It is usually the first step in defining any brand, including a personal brand. A mood board contains color swatches, photos, and aesthetics that you want your brand to identify with. What color(s) inspire you?

Time to Create
Once the color scheme is developed, you need to make sure that you’re using those brand colors specifically in your social media graphics. If you have room for a creative budget, I’d suggest working with a brand or graphic designer OR head over to Canva.com and look through templates/ideas to create some of your own. Don’t be afraid to get creative! My rule of thumb on Canva templates is to only change 2-3 items such as the color, photo, and font. If you’re active on Stories on Instagram and Facebook, use the same fonts, colors throughout these platforms.

Mix it All Together
When it comes to the photography for your website, social media, and company, be sure it matches your same aesthetic for your brand. Wear those colors you chose for Step 1 in your photo shoots! Make a shot list for the photographer of the social media images you’ll need so they are prepared ahead of time, this helps save time during the shoot. When you begin integrating and utilizing the same consistent colors for your social media, it stops the scroll and people will recognize it’s you and engage!

Bonus! Your raving fans will start buying and sending your items that are on-brand as well. I receive many items that include crystals, the saying “You do You” and fun pink journals which are a part of my aesthetic for my personal brand.

Action step: start with one of the steps above and create a consistent brand look to your social media feeds to stand out, get engagement and be recognized.
